Frequently Ask Questions

My Computer Locks Up When I Try To Use the LakeMaster Software
•   This is a known problem that has been resolved with updates from Microsoft, Inc. If you are using Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating systems, please go to the Microsoft web site and download the latest service pack. If you are using Windows 95, 98, 98SE, or ME please connect to the internet, left click on the Start button, select Windows Update. Your computer will be scanned by Microsoft to see which updates apply to your computer. Download and install the necessary updates for your computer.
My GPS Is Not Communicating With My LakeMaster Software
•   Make sure the BAUD rate in the software corresponds to the BAUD rate on the GPS. Garmin units should be set to 9600.
•   Check the serial cable connectors
•   Make sure strong batteries are being used
•   Be sure to close all PDA software that may be running. PDA software tends to be re-opened upon computer startup.
•   If your GPS is transmitting NMEA data, change the data format to Garmin-Garmin, Lowrance, or Magellan on the GPS unit.
•   Reboot the computer with the GPS plugged into the computer and the GPS power turned on.
I Receive A General Protection Fault in GMNOSOCK.EXE When I Print To My Hewlett Packard Printer.
•   A universal HP printer driver needs to be installed. The HP driver that needs to be added is the 550C printer driver. Most computers will have this driver loaded, some need to place the main installation disc into the CD-ROM drive.
I Registered On-line, When Will I Receive My Access Code?
•   If the LakeMaster software was registered on-line via the Internet, the access code is automatically transferred to the software. This information is passed behind the scenes and you will not receive an access code. Please note that the on-line registration can only be completed once. All additional software registrations must be completed manually by calling LakeMaster or emailing the serialization number and LMCODE to bigfish@lakemap.com
I Have Received and Entered The Access Code From LakeMaster, but I always Receive An Error Message, "Invalid Access Code".
•   Is the computer connected to an internal network using a server computer, if so please disconnect the computer from the network.
•   Is the computer hooked up to a docking station? If so, please disconnect the computer.
•   Please double check the numbers that were sent to LakeMaster
My Coordinates Are Not Properly Located On the Map?
•   If the waypoints are being transferred using the PC interface cable, the incorrect waypoint location may be due to the survey method completed on the lake. Contour information that has not been surveyed by NOAA, or ProMap Technologies, Inc. may have slight inaccuracies with relation to location, size, and shape of underwater structures.
•   If the waypoint information is being entered into the LakeMaster software from the GPS manually, please make sure the coordinate formats are the same. If the GPS waypoint format on the GPS is set to DMS, make sure to enter the coordinate into LakeMaster in DMS. If the GPS waypoint format on the GPS is set to DM, make sure to enter the coordinate into LakeMaster in DM.
How Do I Use the Real Time Tracking Feature in LakeMaster?
•   To use the real time tracking function, make sure the GPS unit is transmitting NMEA data. Check to make sure the Enable Tracking is selected in LakeMaster. Be sure to set the BAUD Rate to 4800 in the LakeMaster software.
How Do I Transfer The LakeMaster Map To My Lowrance, Garmin, Magellan, or Raytheon GPS Mapping Unit?
•   LakeMaster software does not currently have the ability to upload maps to mapping GPS units. Each of these companies must release their proprietary map upload command. We are working with these companies to have this ability in the future.
Can I Load and Register My LakeMaster Software On My Home Computer and My Work Computer?
•   The software may be loaded and registered on two separate machines for the individual who purchased the software. Two access codes need to be obtained from LakeMaster LakeMaps. One machine may be registered on-line, the second machine must be registered manually via email or phone.
