GIS Technician/Analyst (Entry Level)
Location: Little Falls, MN 56345
Position Description:
LakeMaster® LakeMaps, a Johnson Outdoors company, provides the most accurate, detailed and complete electronic lake charts in the industry today. We have developed unrivaled proprietary on-the-water survey techniques for acquiring high definition digital bathymetry. We then employ internally developed GIS data processing technology to create detailed high definition lake charts in the LakeMaster originated, one-foot depth increments. LakeMaster® currently provides digital chart products for Humminbird GPS/Sonar products, as well as paper charts, pc software, and professional quality lake prints. We are currently seeking a highly motivated entry level GIS Technician/Analyst candidate to fill a full-time staff position in our Little Falls, MN office.
Position Information:
The GIS Technician/Analyst position requires at least a B.S. in geography, geology, environmental science, or related field and completion of relevant college level courses or training in GIS. Qualified applicants will have knowledge of theory, implementation, integration, and application of GIS, geospatial technologies, and GPS. Experience with MapInfo, interpolations, Humminbird GPS/Sonar fishfinders, and an avid interest in fishing a plus, but not required. Highly motivated college graduates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of this position include support in the areas of map production, data creation, data management, and 3D/spatial analysis for Lake and Ocean related data. Additional duties may include general technical support (spreadsheet work, calculations, and QA/QC) and customer support.
Desirable Skills:
Candidates must have a strong foundational knowledge of GIS (projections, aerial photo interpretation,and disciplined file structure management). Ideal candidates will have experience with 2 of the following software packages; Mapinfo GIS software, GlobalMapper software, ESRI’s ArcGIS version 10 software suite, MS Office (particularly Excel), and computer programming scripting (Python or VB). Highly desirable qualities include the ability to work independently, possess strong organizational abilities; excellent written, oral, quantitative, and graphic communication skills; and a high attention to detail.
